In our latest blog, we chat with our Fleet Strategist, Casilyn Lund.
As a Fleet Strategist, I create, sell, and deliver training programs for commercial and fleet-focused automotive groups. More specifically, I partner with dealerships to grow their fleet departments by upskilling teams, providing individual coaching, and helping them sell to customers from a big-picture perspective, not just focusing on the price of the vehicle someone wants right now. That means teaching account managers how to develop fleet analyses that include five-year budget projections based on smart acquisition strategies designed for predictability, affordability, and sustainability. I also saw a need for a U.S. website to showcase our dealer training division for current and prospective partners, so I built www.onenexusdealertraining.com. It features an eLearning platform, a full resource rolodex for dealers, and event booking tools. Plus, I manage our One Nexus Dealer Training LinkedIn page to support our growth efforts.
What is your experience in the automotive industry so far?
I haven’t always been in the automotive industry! I spent some time as a coffee shop and wine bar store manager, makeup artist, and entrepreneur. But no matter what, I kept coming back to automotive. When I started at a Mazda store in Oklahoma at 18, I was lucky to have an incredible mentor who taught me that the people who succeed long-term in this industry have high integrity, and there’s simply no excuse for anything less.
I believe that because of that foundation, I’ve attracted business partners, colleagues, and friends who share those values.
That’s made my journey in automotive truly rewarding and enjoyable.
How has your journey with One Nexus been so far?
Moving to One Nexus was honestly an answer to prayer. In a yearly review at a previous job, my boss asked me where I saw myself in five years. I told him, “I want to train dealerships to do business honorably, attract new talent to this industry, and lead a team of passionate professionals.”
When the opportunity at One Nexus came along, it felt like the perfect fit. I was searching for an organization that truly values integrity, innovation, and growth. Since joining, I’ve been able to put my passion into action every day, working alongside a team that shares my vision and drive.
What excites me most is the chance to make a real impact, not just on dealership performance, but on the culture of the industry as a whole. It’s been incredibly rewarding to help shape training programs that equip people to succeed with honesty and confidence.
I couldn’t be more grateful for the trust One Nexus has placed in me and for the ongoing opportunities to learn, grow, and contribute to something bigger than myself. This journey has been both humbling and inspiring. And I’m just getting started!
What would you say you enjoy most about your job?
That’s a tough one! I love that I get to be creative in so many ways. Teaching dealership account managers and their managers inspires me every day.
I also enjoy working on the website and marketing initiatives because I get to craft clear, quality messages that help grow our division. It’s rewarding to see how those pieces come together to make a difference.
What was it about One Nexus that made you want to get involved?
I saw that One Nexus has a clear mission and focus. We’re a unified team working toward the same goal, bringing multiple solutions and building connections across the global automotive industry.
What really stood out to me was how that mission is grounded in proven strategies but balanced with new technology, innovation, and fresh ideas.
Outside of work, what do you enjoy doing?
I love spending time with my family. My husband Josiah and I have been married for 16 years, and we have three boys, Tristan (14), Judah (13), and Valor (10). We enjoy hiking, cruising, watching movies and musicals, concerts, and trying new experiences together.
Tristan and Valor both love basketball, and we’re always cheering them on. Judah is really into tech and creativity. He’s even teaching me about coding and robotics! They’re all way smarter than me, which is pretty thrilling as their mom.
We’re a DIY family and have spent the last four years renovating our home. It's been challenging but rewarding and taught us a lot. Plus, we’re all foodies, always cooking, baking, and trying new recipes from different cultures. My husband is currently building me a new kitchen, and I can’t wait to dive in when it’s done!
Finally, what is one thing you would like readers to know about yourself or One Nexus that they might not know already?
What many people might not realize is how deeply personal this work is to me, and how much heart and purpose drive everything we do at One Nexus. We’re not just a company; we’re a team of passionate people who genuinely care about the success of our partners and each other.
I believe the automotive and fleet industry has the power to change lives when approached with integrity and vision. At One Nexus, we’re not just focused on today’s challenges. We’re building the framework for the future, helping dealerships evolve, innovate, and lead with strategy and heart.
For me, it’s more than selling training programs; it’s about empowering people to see what’s possible for their teams and customers, inspiring them to create lasting success and meaningful connections. That sense of purpose and collaboration is what makes this work so fulfilling.
