Hi Mark, Can you tell us about your role at One Nexus?

My role at One Nexus is IT Support Manager. As a department we are responsible for everything IT-related inside of the business as well as customer-facing systems. We set up and maintain all the hardware and software used, from laptops to firewalls, phone systems and servers the systems are running on. We also have a development team who create and maintain the products and services.

What is your experience in the automotive industry so far?
I hadn’t had any experience before I joined One Nexus but I always had an interest in cars. Since joining I have gained lots of experience through dealing with and visiting vehicle rental locations and dealerships, mainly training or supporting them in setting up our vehicle rental system.

How has your journey with One Nexus been so far?
My journey has been great, which is why I have stayed so long! I started on first line support and the team were amazing in supporting me through my first full time job. We have come from supplying and supporting hardware to customers, to providing a cloud-based system, with websites and apps added along the way.

What would you say you enjoy most about your job?
It has always been the people. Many colleagues have become friends over the years and I am lucky to have had great guidance from the Head of IT Iain McLean who has always been there when I need support. The varied nature of the job certainly helps as well and gives us something new to concentrate on almost daily.

What was it about One Nexus that made you want to get involved?
I could see straight away how varied the job could be. It could go from telephone support, to working on a hardware installation, to going to a customer site consulting on how our systems can best help them in their business.

Outside of work, what do you enjoy doing?
Outside of work I mostly spend time with family, we enjoy days out and holidays and try to get away any time school holidays allow. We have two girls in the house who are 14 and 8 so there is never a dull time!
