In our latest blog, we chat with our Managing Director of Nexus Aftermarket, Australia, Jim Monaghan.

Hi, Jim. Can you tell us about your role at One Nexus?
I am the Managing Director of Nexus Aftermarket in Australia.

What is your experience in the automotive industry so far?
Apart from four years in car sales, I have been in the automotive parts industry since leaving high school.

How has your journey with One Nexus been so far?
On January 1st I will be celebrating 25 years with the One Nexus group. I started off as a Trade Sales Development Manager on the Vauxhall Trade Club account. I progressed to Business Development Manager in 2007, before moving to Australia in 2013 to assume the role of Managing Director.

What would you say you enjoy most about your job?
I enjoy supporting some of the world’s biggest brands, enabling them to achieve their goals, and the interaction at all levels of the industry.

What was it about One Nexus that made you want to get involved?
I wanted to progress from Dealer world into Vehicle Manufacturer side and Nexus gave me that opportunity.

Outside of work, what do you enjoy doing?
At weekends I can often be found exploring Australia off road by 4wd, or on road by motorbike. I am also a hobby DJ which has evolved through my love of attending gigs. From Swedish House Mafia in Ibiza, to Oasis in Melbourne, my music tastes are wide and varied.

Finally, what is one thing you would like readers to know about yourself or One Nexus that they might not know already?
Just prior to joining One Nexus I climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania to raise funds for the UK charity Scope. It was the most physical and mentally challenging thing I have ever done and taught me how to better prepare myself and face challenges in business and my personal life. Everybody should push themselves to their limits, at least once in their life.
